High Hopes for a Successful Event!

Kebabian’s is privileged to be part of the premier benefit event, SYMPHONY for the important work of High Hopes Therapeutic Riding.  SYMPHONY will include a concert by Orchestra New England playing cinematic favorites.  In addition to the concert, the event will include elegant dining and a silent auction in a unique and spectacular setting on Saturday, June 14 in Old Lyme, CT.

At High Hopes Therapeutic Riding more than 650 volunteers donate over 31,600 hours of their time annually. Participants range in age from 4 to 86 years & come from 74 towns throughout Connecticut.  This wonderful organization brings the hope and healing that only can come through a horse.

High Hopes does an exceptional job of properly training volunteers.  One example includes a Sidewalker Workshop –  “Discussion and practice of advanced level sidewalking techniques. Topics to include: Physical supports, communicating with your riders, FAQ’s. Bring your questions!”

Kebabian’s donation is a Belouch “saddlebag” from southern Afghanistan measuring 1’10” x 2’11”.  This delightful bag has a handknotted face and a striped woven back both made of wool from their own sheep. This piece is approximately 30 years old. The Belouchi are a semi-nomadic people from Belouchistan which is located in southern Afghanistan, southwest Pakistan and southeast Iran.  They use the materials they have on hand to create charming “saddle” or cargo bags to carry their belongings along in style. This delightful bag is adorned with a woven lattice of tassels decorated with buttons.
