BEST WISHES FOR A SUCCESSFUL EVENT!
Kebabian’s Oriental Rugs is thrilled to contribute to the Florence Griswold’s Art Museum’s Gala for 2013! It is a privilege to be a part of this fine museum which brilliantly brings an understanding of American art to the public. “Art is a gift that keeps generatively giving and in some ways is not complete until others benefit from it.” Makoto Fujimura, American contemporary artist. Well Done Florence Griswold Art Museum!
Very Fine Suzani 6.1 x 8.10 (Value $6,000)
Kebabian’s donation is a vibrant and playful very fine Suzani which radiates with rich blues, golds, reds & greens on a field of deep aubergine. This carpet measures approximately 6 x 9. The inspiration for this carpet are textiles from Uzbekistan which were used for bedspreads. This very fine Suzani was hand-knotted in northern Afghanistan by ethnic Uzbek women using handspun vegetally dyed local wool from Ghazni and silk from Samarkand, Uzbekistan. John Kebabian visited the silk factory in Samarkand during one of his buying trips abroad. The elements of this carpet include the paisley design which represents mother with child and flowers which represent paradise.
Producing a masterpiece requires time, skill, attention to detail and an understanding of beauty. This one-of-a-kind stunning Suzani is not merely a functional floor covering; it brings the human touch of the artist along with his/her energetic and playful vibe to the room , “Art for the Eye & the Foot”!
