Gabbeh Couleurs Handwoven Transitional Rug

In Persian, gabbeh means raw, uncut, or natural, an apt description for these tribal works of art. Historically, gabbeh rugs were woven by Qashqai and Luri weavers in the Zagros Mountains in southern Iran. Their rich, silky wool made for ideal insulation against the mountains’ bitter cold, evening temperatures. Our new Gabbehs hand knotted in Afghanistan are made with handspun, naturally dyed wool and are authentic modern heirlooms. John Kebabian began working with the Turkmen families who produce these carpets in the early 90’s, and the relationship remains strong to this very day.

PANTONE shades: We do our best to find the closest match to one or multiple colors in the rug. The shade card we choose may not always be the perfect one, but we do our best (it’s a lot of work)! At times we may show multiple shade cards so you can get a better sense of color. Finally, when photographing rugs from the same group (shipment, collection, SKU, etc.) we will often use one or two shade card(s) so that you can get a good sense of the coloration. Hope you enjoy viewing our beautiful rugs!
