Antique Persian Sarouk Rug
Hand knotted ca. 1920 in the province of Arak, western Iran by weavers using local wool and natural dyes. After finishing, the piece was painted with a beautiful red to appeal to the consumer demands of the time. This style of Sarouk originates before the first World War, but it wasn’t until the 1920s that these rugs were exported in large quantities. Sarouks are known for their curvilinear and floral designs. This gorgeous Persian Sarouk is in excellent condition.
