Antique Persian Sarouk Rug
$2,500.00
Sarouk carpets do not generally come from the village of Sarouk, but from a very large region centered on the old provincial capital, Arak. When westerners began organizing the manufacture of carpets in the area in the late nineteenth century they found that Sarouk village produced rugs of exceptional quality, and hence the name was quickly universally adopted to indicate high-quality goods wherever in the region they were made, just as all fine Kermans were called Lavars. This exceptional piece is in mint condition.
