Antique Lenkoran Kazakh Wide Runner Rug
$8,500.00
Hand knotted in the 19th century in a village in the Southwest Caucasus, probably by an Armenian woman. This piece would have been woven on a horizontal nomadic loom using the Ghiordes (Turkish/symmetric) knot with wool pile (knots) on a wool foundation (warps and wefts). The word, ‘Kazak’ means ‘rough-rider’ and describes a race of restless, roaming, troublesome people. This antique Caucasian rug is in excellent condition for its age. It is a fantastic piece.
