Antique Farahan Sarouk Handwoven Rug

Dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, this antique Sarouk Farahan represents the classical, medallion-centric tradition of the Arak region. Measuring 4’5″ x 5’10”, the rug features a striking ivory medallion set against a deep indigo field, populated by detailed weeping willow and botanical motifs. While later mid-century Sarouks are beloved for their thick, plush pile and romantic floral bouquets, this earlier Farahan-style piece focuses on a finer, tighter weave and a graphic, structured layout. It is a sophisticated piece of textile history that offers a more detailed, antique aesthetic while maintaining the legendary craftsmanship for which the Sarouk name is known.
