Semi-Antique Persian Borchalou Wool Rug

$2,500.00

Dimensions: 4'4" x 6'11"
Rug #: 29822

The Borchalou tribe lives in a rather inaccessible valley in the mountains east of Hamadan and northwest of the village of Sarouk. The Borchalous are a Mongol clan who formed part of the forces of Genghis Khan’s successor, Hulagu, who strengthened Mongolian power in northwest Persia in the mid-thirteenth century. Borchalous are among the best rugs of the Hamadan region. This Borchalou design is the Borchalous own innovation of the American Sarouk design. There is a nice flow to the floral sprays, and lovely symmetry throughout the piece. This semi-antique Borchalou rug is in excellent condition and feels amazing underfoot.
