Antique Persian Tafresh Rug

Hand knotted in the village of Tafrish, which is located in western Persia in the Hamadan region. Tafrish rugs are recognizable by their medallions, which resemble a clock-face (albeit with sixteen segments, not twelve). Some believe that the medallion represents the sun with radiating sunbeams as a symbol of the Zoroastrian (Parsee) religion. Antique Tafrish rugs have one of the finest weaves of the Hamadan area. This piece is in excellent condition and has colors that are simply breathtaking.
