Antique Persian Serab Handwoven Rug

Hand knotted in the village of Serab, northwest Persia in the first quarter 20th century. The rug is made from vegetable dyed wool knotted on a wool foundation. Serab is the collecting center for some of the hardest-wearing runners in the world. The pieces are also known for the camel color used in the field. Later Serab rugs have an unattractive synthetic red, but this one has the genuine vegetable dyed red derived from madder root. This Antique Persian Serab is in very good condition for its age. As far as Serabs go this piece is exceptionally pleasing to the eye.

At times we may show multiple shade cards so you can get a better sense of color.
