Antique Persian Serebend Rug
$1,500.00
Hand knotted in the Serabend region in northwest Persia, located about 6,500 ft above sea-level in the mountains between Arak and Borujird. The word Serabend means a ‘cold place’, but there is also a river Saravand just to the north of the area, which may perhaps be the origin of the name. Serabend rugs always use the boteh motif in an all-over pattern, sometimes with a diamond medallion in the center. This antique Serabend rug is in good condition, and has many years of life left.
